Yesterday, RTGFL hosted a special press conference at the home of 101-year-old World War II Navy veteran Fred to celebrate the completion of critical home repairs made possible through the support of USAA, the American Red Cross, Community Foundation Tampa Bay, and Volunteer Florida.

Following damage from the 2024 hurricane season, Fred’s home was restored with repairs that will allow him to continue living safely and independently. Guests had the opportunity to tour the completed work and hear from community leaders about the importance of investing in veterans and disaster recovery.

The program featured remarks from RTGFL CEO Jose Garcia; Pasco County Commissioner Jack Mariano (District 5); Fred; Ashley Dietz, Commissioner of Volunteer Florida and CEO of the Florida Philanthropic Network; Brandi Sanchez, Senior Director of Community Investment at Community Foundation Tampa Bay; and Linzy Wilson, Senior Community Recovery Manager with the American Red Cross.

The event was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when nonprofit organizations, government leaders, funders, and community partners come together to help Florida homeowners remain safe, resilient, and independent. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this meaningful day possible.
