Preparing communities before disaster strikes is one of the most effective ways to protect families and strengthen resilience. Recently, Rebuilding Together Greater Florida partnered with Verizon at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ AdventHealth Training Center to help equip Tampa residents with the resources they need to stay safe during hurricane season.
Through this community preparedness initiative, volunteers assembled and distributed 500 disaster readiness kits to individuals and families throughout the Tampa Bay area. Each kit was designed to help residents prepare for potential emergencies and maintain access to essential resources during severe weather events.
As Florida communities continue to face the challenges of hurricane season, preparedness remains a critical component of disaster response and recovery. By providing disaster readiness supplies before storms occur, organizations can help reduce risk, improve safety, and ensure families are better equipped to navigate emergencies.
The event brought together community leaders, volunteers, and partners who share a commitment to protecting and supporting local residents. We were honored to welcome distinguished guest speakers, including Mayor Jane Castor, U.S. Representative Kathy Castor, and Martin Gramatica. Their participation highlighted the importance of community preparedness and the collective responsibility we all share in helping residents prepare for future storms.
This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our valued partners. Their commitment to service helped ensure that hundreds of families received resources that can make a meaningful difference during times of uncertainty.
At Rebuilding Together Greater Florida, we understand that preparedness is just as important as recovery. By investing in disaster readiness today, we help build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities for tomorrow.
Together with our partners, volunteers, and community leaders, we remain committed to helping Florida families prepare for whatever comes next.
