Our Safe & Healthy Homes program is built on the 25 Safe and Healthy Housing Priorities,
addressing essential home repairs that prevent health and safety risks. From ensuring homes
are structurally sound to providing accessibility improvements, our goal is to create secure
environments for those who need it most.

Critical Home
Repairs

Fixing unsafe conditions such as leaking roofs, faulty electrical wiring, plumbing issues, and deteriorating flooring.

Accessibility &
Fall Prevention

Installing grab bars, handrails, wheelchair ramps, and stair modifications to enhance mobility and prevent injuries.

Environmental
Health & Safety

Removing mold, installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, improving indoor air quality, and mitigating fire hazards.

Energy Efficiency
& Comfort

Ensuring homes maintain a comfortable temperature, improving insulation, and addressing HVAC concerns.

We offer specialized services under Safe & Healthy Homes to address the unique needs of different populations.

Healthier Homes for Children

A home’s condition directly impacts a child’s health. Our Healthier Homes for Children initiative focuses on:

  • Reducing asthma and allergy triggers (mold, dust, poor ventilation).
  • Removing lead-based paint hazards.
  • Ensuring proper sanitation and pest control.
  • Providing safe sleeping and play environments.
  • Educating families on maintaining a healthier home for their children.

Safe
At Home

Aging or living with a disability shouldn’t mean losing independence. The Safe at Home program is designed to help older adults and individuals with disabilities age in place safely. Our services include:

  • Home modifications such as widening doorways, installing ramps, and improving lighting.
  • Fall prevention measures like grab bars, non-slip flooring, and secure handrails.
  • Accessibility upgrades to kitchens and bathrooms to promote independent living.
  • Fire safety improvements, including smoke detectors and emergency exit solutions.
