On Friday, July 17, Rebuilding Together Greater Florida hosted its first-ever RTGFL World Cup, bringing together team members from across our districts for a day of teamwork, cultural appreciation, and friendly competition.
Staff members teamed up in pairs to represent 16 different countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, England, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. While many participants weren’t representing their own heritage, that was part of the fun! It encouraged everyone to learn about a new country, its traditions, and its culture while getting to know coworkers from different offices.
The day kicked off with a Country Showcase, where each team introduced the nation they represented by sharing fun facts, performing a team chant, and making their case for why their country deserved to take home the RTGFL World Cup trophy. The creativity, enthusiasm, and team spirit on display made for an unforgettable start to the competition.
Teams then competed in a variety of World Cup-inspired challenges, including balloon soccer, country and soccer trivia, and a workplace scenario challenge. During the scenario challenge, teams used red, yellow, and green flags to determine the most appropriate response to different World Cup situations, encouraging collaboration, communication, and problem-solving in a fun, interactive way.
More than anything, the RTGFL World Cup was an opportunity to strengthen relationships across our organization. By pairing staff members from different districts and departments, the event encouraged new connections, collaboration, and plenty of laughter throughout the day while celebrating cultures from around the world.
After an exciting day of competition, Team Brazil claimed the title as the inaugural RTGFL World Cup Champions! Congratulations to our champions and to every team that embraced the spirit of friendly competition, cultural appreciation, and teamwork. The enthusiasm and creativity from every participant made our first RTGFL World Cup an unforgettable success, and we can’t wait to see what next year’s tournament brings!
